Bal & Simon

Simon and I met many years ago when I was 16. We were introduced by a mutual friend and we became very close very quick. It had not been easy as my mother was against our relationship due Simon being of a different religion. However, we had fallen in love and I knew he was the one for me.

A couple of years later he placed a ring under the Christmas tree and proposed – of course I said yes!

Later on we moved in together and started to save the little money we had for a wedding, knowing that there probably wasn’t going to be anyone present from my side of the family. By the time we had saved enough, I was 21 and fell pregnant with our first child. This changed our priorities massively and now was the time to use our savings to get a mortgage so that we could raise our family.

Several years passed and another addition to our little family with baby no. 2.

One day we were talking about holidays and we have always wanted to visit Greece. Out of the blue I said, “Hey, why don’t we get married while we are there?”

This left us with the all important decision of which of the many beautiful Greek islands to chose from. We fell in love with St Pauls and the history of Rhodes with it’s beautiful acropolis.

We contacted the wonderful Margarita and knew that she was somebody who I could work with, even though we were thousands of miles apart. We decided to hire a villa and invited my father-in-law alongside my mother (who had come round to Simon by this time) and my little brother.

We knew with just a little family and friends present, it would be a small and intimate ceremony, however, at our stage of a long term relationship, it was just perfect for us.
